OPERATING PRINCIPLE The triboelectric probe uses the principle of transfer of electric charges, transported by dust immersed in a gaseous fluid, to an electrode connected to a specific electronic circuitry capable of amplifying the weak signal. The amount of charge induced on the electrode is proportional to the amount of dust present in the gaseous fluid. An increase in the concentration of dust determines a proportional increase in the signal that reaches the microprocessor. By applying sophisticated mathematical algorithms, the individual dust particles are counted in such a way as to be able to calculate their concentration in mg per cubic meter.
